NAME: Stanislav Lopushanski
BIRTHDATE: June 2nd
ORIGIN: Kiev, Ukraine; More recently of Kent, Ohio
LANGUAGES: Ukrainian, some Russian by default, an accented English
WEIGHT: 226 lbs, carefully maintained
EYES: Green and large, just about his only redeeming physical quality
HAIR: Brown, almost black, close-cropped
FUR/MARKINGS: Striped gray and brown
SCARS: A splotchy red mark that covers the majority of the right side of his face below his eye. It's actually a birthmark that the doctors call 'naevus flammeus'
, which Stas thinks sounds made up but there you are.
OCCUPATION: Policeman on the St. Louis police force
ATTIRE: When not in uniform, usually a plain shirt, dark well-worn pants, boots.
WOC: A Nagant M1895 provided courtesy of his father, who smuggled it from his time serving as a rookie policeman in Russia.
APPEARANCE: Stas is...well, there's really no better word for it, he's funny-looking. He has a long face dominated by an enormous nose, big ears, and a wide mouth; He also has a colorful birthmark that only adds to the odd look. Aside from his face he's also built differently with a long, solid torso and gangly extremities that give him a coltish look despite approaching thirty. Often mistaken for being younger than he actually is, which he struggles with in his desire to be taken seriously as a policeman. He does have a few saving graces: his eyes could be described as being a beautiful color and his smile, while not beautiful, is wide and friendly.
Good-natured, despite being teased all of his life. Very self-deprecating, but then fiercely defensive of others...his mother calls this his 'middle child syndrome'. He is friendly towards strangers and acquaintances alike, and tends to be well liked by others, if only because he's enjoyable to be around and has that innate ability to put people at ease. The exception to this would be, of course, when he's working, at which point he becomes single minded; He has a very strong sense of justice, which can translate to him seeming stern at times when in reality it's his desire to see the world the way he believes it should be.
Stas was born in Kiev, the third child born to Fadeyka and Katerina Lopushanski. Stas's father had decided some time before his birth that the family wasn't safe in the Ukraine, but it took another six years before enough money could be saved so that the entire family--which had swelled to five children by then--could emigrate to America. The journey was not a pleasant one for the six-year-old Stas, but with the resilience of a child he was able to bounce back and embraced his new life in America. The family settled in the small city of Kent, Ohio, where Fadeyka's older brother had emigrated many years before. Stas and his siblings went to public school and some then went on to public college. Stas opted instead to follow in his father's footsteps and focused his efforts into becoming a policeman.
Now twenty-nine and a policeman on the Kent force for the last eight years, Stas was ready for a change of scenery and (if he were being honest) a chance to escape from the tight knit circle of his family. He was thrilled, therefore, to receive an offer of a field officer position in St. Louis. After years of breaking up fights between farmers about property lines, the opportunity to help clean up dirty, busy city streets appealed greatly to Stas and so he packed up and moved just a few months after his 29th birthday.
SKILLS: Stas is a good policeman; He is brave and controlled when faced with danger, and a good shot. Interacts well with nearly everyone he meets, and is good at reading body language and subtext to understand what should be said or done in the given situation. Good chess player.
WEAKNESSES: Stubborn. Very
stubborn, and dogged when in pursuit of something he believes in. Self-conscious about both his looks and his accent, though these are hidden behind humor. As noted above he is brave, but this can quickly turn to recklessness in the heat of the moment. A poor liar, and a very bad card player.
FEARS: Stas has an almost crippling fear of deep water; He very nearly died as a young boy during the journey across the Atlantic due to a mixture of fear and severe seasickness.
ROMANTIC INTEREST: If asked, Stas would grin and ask "Who'd have me?"
RELIGION: Catholic, though he doesn't attend very often. Christmas, Easter, and when he feels guilty about something.
