Name: Eret Bážá

Alias: Erik Åhren

Birthday: 1901

Appearance: Eret isn't precisely as tall as he wishes he was, but instead is roughly 5'11½" (yes, the ½ is important). He has a darker hair that tends to be tousled, that he keeps fairly short, though it routinely looks shaggy and falls into his bespectacled hazel eyes. He has somewhat of a round face, with a darker complexion than one would think for a man hailing from Northern Sweden. His usual manner of dress is that of a university student or scholar, though he's often found in shirtsleeves and a vest, missing the suit-jacket. He generally forgoes the tie unless prodded.

Personality: He's a quiet young man, tending to keep most things close to the vest - with the exception of anything pertaining to his work. There's a clear air of overcompensation at times when he goes on his work-related rants and anecdotes about previous expeditions. Overall, he's a kind man, though he holds himself at a distance from other people, which at times makes him seem quite lonely.

History: Eret was born in 1901 in a small settlement in Northern Sweden, part of a Sámi tribe. The laws and prejudice surrounding the Sámi were becoming worse and worse and by the time he was twelve, his parents had decided that they wanted a better life for their son, who seemed to gravitate towards learning, and towards schooling rather than herding. It took some doing - and some bribing with what little money they had saved up - to move to Lund and "pass" as Swedes, but they managed to get Eret (now known as Erik) into a decent gymnasieskola, and he worked hard enough to get into Lunds universitet to become an archaeologist - something that is, with the Cold Peace, becoming an in demand profession which he fully intends to take advantage of.

Custom Title: Ahoy!
Name: Suran Ghazarosian

Birthday: 1897

Appearance: Broad-shouldered and barrel-chested with sturdy, powerful limbs. 5'11" (he was tall for his village). Thick, wavy black hair, big nose, and bushy eyebrows which threaten to connect in the middle. Eyes are dark and expressive with long eyelashes, an incongruously feminine feature on an otherwise rough and meaty-looking fellow. He has dark olive skin and a scar on his left cheek, just below his mouth. Simple clothing: boots, baggy trousers, high-collared white shirt and, for fancy occasions, a waistcoat. For cold weather, he carries a fur hat, military-issue gloves, and a thick overcoat.

Personality: Though the course of Suran's life has bound him to industry, he remains a farmer's son at heart. He grew up in a small, close-knit village; once removed from that context, it's as though the pieces of his life stopped making sense. Honor, hospitality, and family are his three greatest values. He's most at home in nature. He lives a generally solitary existence, loves children, and loses his temper only on rare occasions. Despite the growing mysticism around him, Suran's beliefs remain stable. He puts stake in fortune telling and interpretation of dreams, likewise in the possibility of communicating with the dead. While he hasn't been to church in decades, Suran also believes in God, angels, and devils, though by his reckoning only the latter two play active roles in earthly affairs. For the most part he's a pragmatist, in beliefs as well as demeanor.

History: Suran comes from a small Armenian village in the northeast Ottoman Empire, where his father tended an apricot orchard. As a teenager, he was drafted into the Sultan's army. He had an aptitude for mechanics, and before long he was trained and put to work building machines of war. Then word reached the capital of atrocities in the East being carried out against Armenians. Concerned for his family's safety, Suran deserted and rushed home. His village had been looted and abandoned. So he crossed the Russian frontier and, hoping to fight against the Ottomans, volunteered for the Soviet Army. He spent three years on the front as a combat engineer. A few years after the ceasefire he was discharged. Despite his obvious abilities, his total indifference to revolutionary socialism shut him out of any promotions he might have earned. Since then, he's taken odd jobs here and there in factories and surveying crews across the Soviet Union, but his energies have been dedicated to finding his family.

Name: Radimir Danilovich Datsishin [rah-DEE-meer dat-TSEE-shin]
Birthday: 1906

Appearance: Radimir is dark-haired and light-eyed, with a long narrow face and a mustache of which he is quite proud. He used to be tall and skinny. Now he is just tall. The last couple of years have fleshed out his frame, though he carries it well. You wouldn't catch him dead in a suit and tie. He wears worker's clothes--a worn overcoat and boots or, in milder weather, a khaki jumpsuit. People often find him handsome, as much because of his animated manner as his even features.

Personality: Radimir Danilovich is a smart man and a competent engineer, but he loves women at least as much as hydroelectricity. His enthusiasm for both topics creates the impression of a charming yet rascally nerd. He's been known to wax poetic about the Revolution, but he has no deep convictions--just a sleazy, ass-kissing charisma which has rocketed him into the spotlight for the last two years. He used his window of influence to snub the people he hates and indulge in worldly pleasures. While endlessly ambitious, he has never really stopped to consider the point of his machinations; his cleverness is that of a squirrel or a rat, which gets what it wants and gorges itself without pausing for contemplation. As for the supernatural or divine, he believes whatever his superiors tell him to. His folksy, friendly manner used to be genuine, but now that he's the object of public scrutiny, people assume it's an affectation. He has been known to play up his proletarian origins for the benefit of the crowd.

History: Born to a family of blue collar industrial workers in Yaroslavl, Radimir Danilovich probably would've lived and died in the steelworks if it weren't for the Revolution. As it was, he did well on his exams and got into engineering school. Upon graduation, he was sent to Ukraine to work on the new dam spanning the Dnieper. All was drudgery until Glorious Leader Zhelezin was scheduled for a formal visit in '28. Because of Radimir's proletarian background, untainted Russian, and pretty face, which everyone agreed would look good in the papers, he was chosen to give Comrade Zhelezin a tour. To his bosses' horror, Radimir went off script. Among other things, he confessed his proclivity for the accordion, a love shared by the Great Leader. By this point Zhelezin was truly bored of official visits. He took a liking to Radimir, and what started as a formal presentation devolved into an accordion-infused drinking party.

That was the beginning of Comrade Datsishin's meteoric rise. Not long after the visit, he found himself transferred out of Ukraine to a cushy position in Moscow. For two glorious years, he was the Great Leader's favorite pet, appearing at various state functions as a token representative of the common man. Recently, however, he and Zhelezin haven't been seen together in public, and Radimir has rather suddenly left the USSR.

Name: Vera Ryder
Birthday: 28th of February, 1890

Appearance: She finds that keeping up an androgynous or male appearance is by far the most practical and what has, to her own surprise, caused the least controversy. It suits the muscular build she has acquired after years of working hard, even if the coats she wears usually hides this. Her dark, blonde hair is cropped with short back and sides, longer up top; while she endeavours to keep it tidy it usually ends up ruffled with strands falling a bit as they wish. Like her hair her attire has all the potential of being superbly neat, but sometimes it comes off as slightly ruffled instead; usually she opts for plain suits and a coat of better quality.

In her work as a guard/heavy lifter her weapon of choice is a sword, because in her experience it is easier to hack hostile automatons in to submission rather than shooting at them; while in public she opts for something a bit easier to hide such as a fire arm or a knife unless she can hide the blade under her coat.

Personality: Vera likes it when things are practical, simply because that usually means things are going to plan, or that someone bothered to think twice before doing something. She's not sentimental and her loyalty can certainly be bought, but you could hardly accuse her of being cold hearted, just a bit selective on when to be gentle.

History: Vera never really had any grand aspirations in life. In fact a lot the time she didn't have any aspirations at all but took each day as it came, and took what came in stride. Her family owned a department store in London in which Vera and her brother Erik was largely allowed to run around as they pleased, when they on occasion weren't choked in to the mould of good heirs. It was a mostly undisturbed life until they reached adulthood, when they would be rudely interrupted by a letter from the military.

Erik was terrified when he was drafted, and fell in an abrupt downward spiral of nerves and depression. Eventually things got bad enough to bring out Vera's industrious side; while not impulsive she does act fast when she sets her mind to it. Not even Erik had time to fully understand what her plan was before suddenly she had cut her hair and left to take her brother's place. Needless to say, Private "Erik" Ryder didn't have a long or illustrious career in the army. Despite her best efforts Vera was found out almost immediately, and at the same moment she was sent home, Erik was collected and stuffed in to a uniform. Vera returned angry and offended to deeply ashamed parents. If the torturous mood at home wasn't enough to push her in to a personal crisis then the news of her brother's death certainly was. Hair still short and a chip still on her shoulder she pulled on one of her brother's suits, packed a bag, and left home. What started out as a delayed teenage rebellion soon turned in to a lifestyle change. One turn lead to another, and weeks turned in to months, turned in to years... Denied waitressing jobs turned in to manual labour, turned in to rougher and tougher crowds. The short hair and the suits stayed and the heiress was slowly replaced by a mercenary, for a lack of a better word. Vera made a name for herself as a agile and smart fighter, and even had time to get a taste of the war that took her brother. During this she picked up her surprising aptitude and apetite for playing with swords, after seeing their efficiency in combat against machines.

Captian Bryce Maynard

Birthday
5 October 1896

Appearance
Tall, athletic, well muscled. Short cut red hair, kept in military standards despite having been out of the service for a decade, though he hardly ever bothers with keeping it from looking messy. It's often windblown and tousled. Intelligent brown eyes set in a slightly freckled face with a charming grin. He's handsome more out of his confidence, even though he's rather average in looks.

Personality
Passionate. Headstrong. Loyal. Confident.

Bryce is passionate in almost every direction, hotheaded and quick to anger, but loves deeply as well. This love makes him stick to whoever it is directed at unless they turn on him, then the backlash is something dangerous to behold. Cocky, overly self-confident, verging on violent when needed (and sometimes when not).

History
Bryce was born the middle child of three, the eldest son, to a very well to do family, verging on something like royalty. Or as close as one gets in America. From a young age he was groomed to be the next best thing to a prince. He went to the best schools, studied in arts that most wouldn't bother with in this day and age.

But despite his parents best efforts, he was not the golden son they had hopped for as a child. He was in and out of trouble, even though he excelled in everything (or at least was easily able to bullshit his way through). At some point he was shipped from just boarding school to military school where he finished off his schooling.

To everyone's surprise, after graduation he enlisted in the budding airforce, gaining an officers position quickly with his schooling background, parental influence, and natural flying abilities. Things started out well, but quickly went down hill. His trouble making ways caught up with him and after a fight with his commanding officer that came to physical blows he left while the going was good a year before the ceasefire and hasn't looked back.

Now at twenty-three, and unemployed, he took to the sky's again buying a new airship and setting off on adventure for whatever his heart desired and that hasn't changed in ten years.

Rhiannon Brighton

Birthday
20 December 1908

Appearance
On the taller end of average, fair skin, stormy grey eyes, and a mess of bobbed black curls. Rhiannon is regal, graceful, and pretty. Lean, but not soft muscled despite her grace. She favors slacks and blouses, and for a while dressed fully as a man, even if she still looked a little bit like a woman in the billowy clothing.

Personality
Serious more often than not, but not harsh or unkind. She is loving, giving, and sweet to those she is close to. To most others she's a little distant, but nice if not a little stern when needed. She's been mistaken as shy before, but her quietness isn't shyness, or fear. She's just spent a lot of her life living in a social order that has told her to only speak when spoken to, and as thus, she's not out grown that habit in casual situations. Though it is on the way out and she knows when she needs to take charge.

History
Rhiannon was born the second child of a well to do, land owening southern family with in eleven months of her older brother Peter. The two of them were inseparable as young children, much to her mother's disappointment, because she could never seem to keep any of her dresses clean and more often than not she was in her brother's clothes while off getting into trouble with him. The pair of them were often mistaken for twins, and while they were little, few outside the estate knew she was a girl.

But that changed as they grew older, and she was forced into her pretty dresses more often and separatedfrom her 'Irish twin' more often for schooling and etiquette training. She was expected to be a Southern Bell who, while no stranger to doing physical work (something her father had thought very important for all his children to know), did more fighting with her wit and tongue than anything else. But that didn't stop her from learning and training with Peter.

She dreamed of adventure, as did Peter, and they often talked of running away and going to see the world. Our even just the country. And they did, for awhile after Peter turned eighteen. But soon enough something happened and Peter returned home. Rhiannon though, refused to. Refused to go back to being more a thing to look at and not a person to talk to. And beside, there was so much more to see. So she chopped off her hair, donned I'll fitting men's clothes, bound down her breasts and sought out any one willing to take her on as Rhys, a young man with more determination than anything but a good set of skills in fencing and pistols as well. Eventually she was found out, but by then she'd proved her worth and she went on as herself, even though she often favors more masculine dress for its convince.
