Custom Title: Wearer of the Sacred Pince-Nez
Name: Theodore Dukakis
Aliases: Theo, Feodor, Feo (un-anglicized version of his name, used by family)
Species: Aegean Cat
Birthdate: 27/04/1903
Age: 24
Height: 182cm, or about 5'10/5'11
Weight: 62 kg
Build: Average, leaning towards skinny
Origin: Theodore is the son of Greek immigrants who moved to St. Louis a year before his birth in 1902, and therefore he is the first of his family to be born and raised in America. His parents and his older brother moved over from Athens in Greece because of the good prospects for his father's law firm over in America at the time.
Languages: He obviously knows English from being born and raised in America, but he also knows some Greek as he grew up with it being spoken a lot at home, despite the fact he went to boarding school. Furthermore, he knows Latin after studying it in his primary education. Speaks with a Mid-Western Accent.
Occupation: Theodore works in his father's law firm, Dukakis & Company Lawyers, as a newly-employed lawyer. He dislikes the job as he felt forced into following in his father's footsteps, and he originally wanted to be a doctor.
Ethnicity: Greek-American

Eyes: Green
Hair: Short and cropped black hair, slicked back as was customary in the period. In times of stress (or when he forgets to slick it back), the hair grows wavy and a little unruly.
Scars: A few small scars on his right leg. These were caused when he dropped some wine glasses while working as a waiter when he was 16, and the some of the glass embedded itself in that leg.
Fur/Markings: As usual for an Aegean Cat, 2/3 of his body is white, with a tabby and ginger patches of fur running from the top of his head down his back, and another patch of this fur at the tip of his tail. Or this picture (but w/ green eyes)

Shhhhh about the fact tortoiseshell cats are female mostly shhhhhh
Attire: To work as well as when going out (when it is not a formal gathering), Theodore wears a grey pinstiped suit (thin white stripes) with a white shirt, a black tie and similarly pinstriped trousers, cuffed at the bottom. The jacket fits him well but the trousers hang a little loose as he has slim legs, hence why he does not wear 'Oxford Bags'. For formal occasions and occasional eveningwear, he wears a black tuxedo with a white shirt and a black tie. For sports or just lounging round by himself, he wears a white shirt, with a grey sweater and tan short trousers ('knickers')

Accessories: A black fedora hat, and a pair of glasses. In colder times, a red scarf is usually added to the mix.
WOC: None. He's pretty much a pacifist.

Appearance: Theodore is fairly attractive, and the stereotypical Greek look of green eyes against olive skin and black hair works well to make him look quite exotic. The reading glasses he wears don't suit him quite as well as he hoped, and they make him look just a little too studious. He looks a little out of date as he doesn't wear some of the popular fashions of the time (Oxford Bags for reasons already stated, no high-waisted jackets for more freedom of breathing), but he usually looks quite formal as a matter of course.

Personality: Theodore has an interesting personality. He is more introverted than extroverted, but tends to be overly friendly with people to cover up that fact. This can sometimes mean that he puts people off as he can seem a bit too eager. When he's by himself, he's a quiet person, who would rather spend time getting caught up in his books than socialising on the streets. He occasionally lacks a sense of direction due to the lack of a father figure, as his faher died when he was young, and he can therefore make a few questionable decisions.

When he's with close friends (or someone who isn't put off by his eagerness) he participates in conversations quite a lot, and listens very well. He doesn't pay a lot of attention to trends in clothing, but instead devotes his time to trends in the arts, and books. He works best in small groups of people he gets along with. Theodore is quite intelligent thanks to his primary education, but he is quite forgetful and can a bit of a perfectionist, and is always determined to do everything as well as possible. Lastly, despite his introverted-ness, he can become lonely from time to time as his family moved away, while he stayed in St. Louis.

Special skills: Arguing a case, not getting angry, cooking, spelling and grammar, his knowledge of fiction and (a little surprisingly) dancing the Charleston.
Weaknesses: Being a perfectionist, little self-defence experience, too eager, forgetfulness, and slight lack of social awareness.
Fears: Rats, small spaces, heights and most insects.
Likes: Books, plays, jazz, whiskey, books, coffee, books, books, books about medicine, books about animals, BOOKS.
Dislikes: Hipsters (for want of a more 1920's-style word, my brain isn't working), wine, anythings listed in Fears, violent people, and romance novels.
Religion: Agnostic. Theodore's never really thought about the question an awful lot, and so doesn't have an opinion as such

History: Theodore was born in St Louis in 1903. After an uneventful first few years, he was sent by his middle-class family to a boarding school somewhere in America, and due to his rather bad memory, he can never remember where exactly it was. It was here that in 1912, at the age of nine, he heard of his father's death in the Ottoman Empire as part of the First Balkan War.

Despite the aforementioned lack of a father figure, Theodore didn't go 'off the rails'. He was shaken as any boy would be, but he grew strong and carried on. He finished school with a good record of achievement, and after being willed (or forced?) to follow in his late father's footsteps into the world of law, he agreed and began to learn the tricks of the trade.

After being constantly tutored by his father's friend and fellow lawyer, Sebastian Adams, he began to show profiency in the job. Just before Sebastian declared him fit for a job in his father's company, a hammer blow struck. Most of his family, save for his older brother, moved back to Greece for family reasons, and also along with various other Greek people due to the better economic situation there than it had been before Theodore was born. Theodore refused as he had gotten used to St. Louis, and he stayed in America. Not even a week later, he got his job at the company.

Orientation: Heterosexual
Love Interest: One Eliza Akers! What an unlikely pair...
Quotes: "I'm reading...uh, what was it called again? You know, that one by...thingy?"
"Do you know about *insert overly complicated thing here*"

Considering this is the first time I've actually tried my hand at a roleplay or even making a proper character, I'm happy with this ^_^ Please point out if you notice something inaccurate, and please tell me if my character is as boring as can be. Thanks. Anonymous Weasel out.

Ah, wait. I've just read some more of other people's descriptions. Am I the only one who's used things like species and stuff? :S

You're fine! Personally, I don't include the species thing because it's just easier for me to picture my characters as boring old humans. But as Tracy said, her characters are the same whether she draws them with ears/tails/fur or not. It's just a matter of personal preference--how you see your characters, and how you want others to see them.

And speaking of which, you have an awesome character. Well done!

Thanks :D Considering I used your guide to character creation for him, you should probably be praising yourself as well! It was very helpful. I just need to find a thread/situation/whatever that my character fits into now! :P

Ah, excellent. Glad it helped!

And speaking of helpful guides, Arty posted some tips for people looking to start an RP, among other things. You can peruse that at your leisure, but she has some good advice on how to find a thread, how to coordinate one with another player, or how to start your own, &c.

Things are often a little slow around here during the week, especially during busy times of year (read: anytime other than summer/holiday vacations) but you can almost always find someone around who's game to RP!
