Spellcheck dislikes pugnastics. But that's okay, because I dislike spellcheck.

Bearcat is real.

Freebooters are lawless adventurers, much like the average D&D character.

1. Just as I predicted - click!click!
2. More delicious pictures of Serafine - the only non-waify female except Lacy (interesting contrast there)
3. Is Serafine trying to muddy the waters by almost claiming to be non-Marigold? Are they really freelancing? It seems unlikely given their mission with Gracie. So why take everyone's loot? Can't resist?
4. There is an old picture here that shows a man we now know as Gracie (upper left corner) in an old...brewery. Interesting, no?

1. Just as I predicted: removed firing pin
2. You consider Mitzi as 'waify'? That is one solid-built 'waif'!
3. I believe that Serafina is implying that even though they might think they are confiding in an honest cop, they may actually be talking to a cop on the Marigold payroll that will report their statements with all the consequent unpleasantness.

With members of the congregation being the "worse," I'd wager.

what angle do you think the "congregation" has in this? they've only had one appearance so far, and their purpose is unclear, to say the least.

Given his position, it's pretty obvious this is the interrogation to follow. It's difficult thinking about the panel work Ms. Tracy has done, 4 years ago, that still has yet to show up in the comic. There are other scenes in that link that also have yet to take place.

I don't think the congregation has an angle. They don't have anything to do with the bootlegging wars it seems, only with Serafine and Nico.

I agree. I got the sense that the "congregation" may be Nico and Serafine's groupies but aren't especially involved in their bootlegging endeavors.

Rat to a Marigold cop, you die, because that's just business. Rat to a member of the congregation, though, try to get their priestess in trouble? That's more than business. You don't just die.

Meh. All of the trappings and interesting...coincidences...aside, I don't think this is supposed to be a world where the supernatural actually exists.

Except for Wick and his duck. That is undoubtedly real.

I'm certain, like with many good works of literature, the matter will be kept ambiguous. Serafine's prophecy for Mordecai's downfall is after all only another way to put into words his presumed character arc and fate. Her voodoo, like many mystical-happenings-as-talking-points, will act as an alleged conduit/parallel for events that would have happened either way.

Mordecai will meet some doom; at whose hand is uncertain, but since any demise of his can be attributed to this god of the lost, I think death by the congregation themselves would be too on-the-nose.

Well, the nice thing about "good" prophecies is that they can be interpreted to mean pretty much anything you want them to mean.
