Even though I pretty much grew up if dogs, I don't mind cats (Even though I was mauled by one when I was 3 or 4); so I count myself as a cat AND dog person. So what are you; cat person, dog person, both, or neither?

Cat.
I despise canines.

Hmm. I consider myself more of a dog person. I currently own a dog. Have had two others but they've passed on from old age. Don't take me wrong though. I don't hate cats though, I think they are cute, but I would never own one. If a friend or relative has a cat I'm more than willing to pet and play with it. I just like dogs more for some reason.

Like I said before, I like both dogs and cats. While I wouldn't mind having a pet cat, but the rest of my family aren't too keen on that idea; my step dad thinks cats are disgusting because cats use a litterbox (yet he's fine with picking up fresh dog poop, which I don't get), my mom is hesitant because the one time we had a cat wasn't what you would exactly call a happy adventure, and my 17 year old brother is scared of cats after he got swiped on the hand by my dad and step mom's bi-polar cat 2 years ago. The only other person in my family who likes cats is my 6 year old sister.

Cats AND dogs! I love animals. Cats are so fun to wrestle with, fling crickets at, and just pet nice and thorough when you're in a contemplative mood. But dogs are better to go on adventures with, race, and uh... have adore you, I guess. XD

Well, I guess anything's better than beta fish. Stupid creatures fall onto breakfast dishes and suffocate in the syrup when you try to play with them. >=C

I like both cats and dogs. Even though I myself have never owned a dog. I have lived with my cousins who owned dogs though.

I've actually had a beta fish commit suicide on me; he seemed fine when I left, but when I came home around 2 hours later, I found him dried up on the kitchen floor...

I've owned both dogs and cats in my time, and I've enjoyed having both animals. I think cats may be more my type of pet, though. The laid-backness of a cat may better compliment my lazy and very indoor-centric lifestyle.

I am a dog person, because dogs are infinitely more useful than cats.

Have you ever heard of a seeing-eye cat, or a bird cat, or a hunting cat, or a hearding cat, or a racing cat, or a guard cat, or a seisure cat, or a cancer smelling cat, or a drug cat (except for one that's on catnip), or a hearing cat for the deaf or hard of hearing?

I've never heard of dog scratch fever. Fewer people are allergic to dogs, and there more breeds of dog, so there's a better chance that you'll find one that's right for you and your lifestyle.

Cats are cute and cuddly, but they claw, and scratch. Pregnant women shouldn't be around their litter boxes, because it can cause birth defects. Cats don't play fetch, and like to scratch furniture, they also have UTIs alot, and they pee and mark everywhere.

Disclaimer: I do in fact like cats, and I even think that they are intelligent, and very cool creatures. I just like dogs better.

Reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids. I don't care much for the furry critters, they are too needy.

I'm an equal opportunity animal lover. If they like me and they show it, I like them, regardless of species. My friend's bird is my best bro. Every time I go to his house, the cockatiel just lands on my head and does some weird bird-purr. He'll climb all over me, clucking and purring. Never heard a bird make that noise until him.

No, because cats are %70 or so smaller than dogs.
They aren't for hunting (Neither are fish)
They aren't there to entertain you by running.
If a dog is your one line of defense against burglary I honestly feel sorry for you.
The last 3 are based on smell.

Heard of roundworm?
Fleas?
Lyme disease?
Hookworm?
It's worth mentioning that some people aren't "allergic to cats".
They're allergic to dander.
Dogs produce dander as well, in much larger amounts.
That "variety of dog breeds" was produced through hundreds of generations of inbreeding, mostly meaning they're downright dim.

But they claw?
What do dogs do?
Bite part of your face off.
Dogs kill other dogs.
Dogs kill other animals.
Dogs kill PEOPLE.
Show me a cat that's killed a person (Or anything above a bird for that matter).
They only scratch your furniture if you don't give them something else to scratch (A post?) which should have passed through your mind when adopting an animal.
And no, they're not going to play fetch. Do you expect a bird to play tic tac toe?
Unless you own a tiger, it's far too small to grab anything.
I can agree on marking, but that stops after you neuter them, or just get a female.
And just where in Sam Hell did you get "Cat litter causes birth defects"?
I can say that would be a very interesting read.

And I could like dogs.
Sometimes their alright to be around.
But the QUINTESSENTIAL deal breaker is 2fold:
They bark.
At everything, all the time, for no reason, all hours of the day.
That is ANNOYING.
They also fight with just about anything.
We've spent about $2,000 last year on these dogs, fixing them after doing such things as jumping out of a car doing 30, out of a speeding boat, attacking other dogs, attacking PEOPLE, attacking each other, and a multitude of other things.
$2,0000 that could have been used on bills, or my medical expenses, or fixing the car, or ANYTHING.
In comparison, I spent $140 on all 12 of my cats in 1 year.
Neutering bills.

Nothing against YOU, but dogs aren't inherently better because they can run, or because they can pick up a stick, or because they have a nose.
It's all a matter of personal taste and can be debated until the sun explodes, but I really don't have the time for that so I'll just fling the OPINIONS card and sit in the corner.

WALL OF TEXT.
